DESCRIPTION:Sip and savor with superhero chefs!\n\nThe Justice League of Food\, a local non-profit that educates and inspires at-risk youth in the culinary arts\, will be hosting a tantalizing dinner series this fall called CULINARY SUPERHEROES - Fall 2019 "Local Harvest".\n\nThe series will feature 3 of the Midwest's top chefs.\n\nAlong with a team of young apprentices\, these superheroes will create dishes that feature fresh\, seasonal local food options.\n\nIt's sure to be an evening filled with beautiful food and warm conversation.\n\nAll dinners will include a wine or beer pairing.\n\nLive entertainment during the evening! Doors at 6:00pm\, dinner at 6:30pm.\n\nSeries Dates:\n\nThursday\, October 24\n\nChef Joe Tripp\n\nFeatured Local Ingredient: Sweet Potatoes\n\nJoe Tripp\, a Des Moines native and graduate of the University of Iowa\, first pursued his passions in the kitchen at the famed Colorado restaurant Fruition. It was there that he learned the importance of details and respect for the ingredients on the plate. Upon returning home\, he teamed up with Simon to run the kitchen at Alba\, eventually earning two James Beard nominations for Best Chef Midwest and two more as chef and co-owner of Harbinger.\n\nWednesday\, November 13\n\nChef Sean Wilson\n\nFeatured Local Ingredient: Apples\n\nSean Wilson is a seasoned chef hailing from the Outer Banks of North Carolina\, where he started his career at the age of 14 working in some of the country's best fish and smoke houses. Sean left the beach and in his travels attended the renowned New England Culinary Institute. Over the years\, Sean sought out and worked in kitchens spanning New York\, Boston\, Seattle\, Spain\, Vermont\, and Northern California\, rubbing elbows with some of the country's top chefs along the way. Chef Wilson brought national attention to Des Moines\, with three James Beard Foundation nominations for "Best Chef Midwest" and accolades from Food & Wine Magazine\, CityView\, FSR Magazine\, DSM Magazine and other publications. Time Magazine has named Proof "Iowa's Best Restaurant" two years in a row. He was also named one of the top 50 chefs in the United States in 2017.\, Chef Wilson Joined Forces with the Justice League of Food\, in August of 2019 as the Director of Culinary Operations. The Justice League of Food is located at The Foundry in West Des Moines and works to break the cycle of poverty in central Iowa by providing area homeless and at-risk youth with job training and placement in the food and beverage industry.\n\nSunday\, December 1\n\nChef Aaron Holt\n\nFeatured Local Ingredient: Winter Squash\n\nAaron Holt was born and raised in Iowa growing up cooking with his mother (the best cook he knows)\, he was taught to use local and seasonal ingredients. His love and passion for food has led him to his culinary career\, including as executive chef of RoCA where he earned the Iowa Restaurant Association's 2018 Executive Chef of the Year award.
