SUMMARY:Economic Update Luncheon
DESCRIPTION:Fall is arriving with two consecutive quarterly readings of negative real GDP growth: the 1.6 percent final estimate for Q1 2022 and 0.9 percent first estimate for Q2 2022. Gross output rose 2.0 percent in the first quarter and the weakest growth since Q2 2020. Most of the output gain came from the services sector. The shrinking GDP has been accompanied by raging inflation and tight labor markets\, not to mention continuing energy uncertainties stemming from the Russo-Ukrainian War as well as the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. What does all of this mean for your business\, for West Des Moines and the state of Iowa? Join us at this informative luncheon featuring some of the state's top leaders who will give us their perspective and what we can expect for the future.\n\n\n\nModerated by Robert Palmer General Counsel and Director of Government Affairs / Iowa League of Cities\n\n \n\nPanelists include:\n\nRachel Flint Vice President / Hubbell Homes \n\nArthur Jones Senior Director\, Real Estate Research / Principal Real Estate Investors\n\nJoe Murphy Executive Director / Iowa Business Council\n\nBrian Waller President / Technology Association of Iowa and more!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNotice of Photographic & Media Recording: When you attend a West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce event\, photography\, audio\, and video recording may occur.
