The downtown Des Moines building\, completed in 1965\, is the most important piece of art in the collection. Designed by Gordon Bunshaft of the world-renowned architectural firm Skidmore\, Owings & Merrill\, it was awarded the 1967 American Institute of Architects Honor Award.
