DESCRIPTION:Join the Latino Trade Network for a special luncheon focused on the growth of the Latino population in Iowa and the current and future business climate for Latino business owners and workers. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with other Latino professionals and learn more about the Latino Trade Network powered by the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce. This event is open to both members and non-members of the Latino Trade Network.\n\n\n\nLunch is included with registration and will be catered by Mama Laura's Meals.\n\n\n\nPanelists include Robert Barron\, Juan Pablo Sanchez\, and Marcela Hermosillo-Tarin\; Moderated by Samantha Mesa\, ABC Local 5\n\n\n\nSamantha Mesa\n\nSamantha Mesa is an anchor and reporter for Good Morning Iowa and Local 5 News Midday in West Des Moines. She's reported across the nation from Texas\, to the Mexico border\, to New York working with CBS\, NBC\, FOX and ABC affiliates. She is originally from Colorado. She earned her master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism in New York\, and her bachelors from the University of Colorado\, Denver. \n\n\nRobert Barron\n\nRob X. Barron is the Executive Director of Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact and Founder of the Latino Political Network. Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact is a network of 50 colleges and universities focused on civic engagement and equitable campus-community partnerships.  In 2015 he co-founded the Latino Political Network\, a non-partisan organization which serves to educate and empower Latinos to serve at all levels of elected office throughout Iowa.\n  \n\nJuan Pablo Sanchez\n\nJuan Pablo Sanchez is the Director of Inclusive Business Strategies at the Greater Des Moines Partnership. Sanchez facilitates programs that advance small and minority-owned businesses\, including the Scale DSM Minority Business Accelerator\, leads the Partnership's supplier diversity initiatives and connects small business owners of all backgrounds.\n\n\n\n\n  Marcela Hermosillo-Tarin\n\nMarcela Hermosillo-Tarin is an experienced HR professional who understands the importance of authenticity and community in building successful organizations. She actively promotes productivity through adaptability and fostering effective teamwork. Marcela's efforts have been recognized through her community involvement and professional achievements\, including obtaining the SHRM certification and being honored in the 2023 Forty under 40 class. Currently\, she serves as the Employee Engagement Manager at Broadlawns Medical Center and previously led an HR team for a company based on the East Coast. Marcela is also an entrepreneur\, as she co-owns Serenity by Design\, a remodeling and staging company. With her dedication to her field and her commitment to her community\, Marcela continues to make a significant impact.
