However, studying the current measurable changes to our local businesses and global economy may provide a window into future consequences. Please join the West Des Moines Sister Cities Commission for a breakfast on September 8 from 7:30-9:00 at Glen Oaks Country Club to explore International Business in Challenging Times. You will have a chance to hear a panel of experts in the field of international business explore the effects of COVID-19 to our local business community and global economy.

Join us in celebrating WDM?s third annual EAT WEEK presented by Veridian Credit Union. What a great chance for restaurants to put their best ?food? forward and attract new customers to their business as hundreds of residents, WDM business? employees and visitors will explore our unique and diverse dining community. We welcome restaurants all over WDM to showcase special menus and pricing for just this one week including coffee shops, wine bistros, sports pubs, specialty burger joints and date-night restaurants. It will be a week of great values, good times and gastronomical adventures! You can compete for hundreds of dollars in gift cards during Eat Week by visiting participating restaurants, uncovering their secret code word found on Eat Week signage, and entering it on the WDM Eat Week website. Restaurant goers can submit additional entries by using the hashtag #WDMEatWeek on social media about their eatery escapades during the time of the promotion. Raccoon River Rally
The West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce and the City of West Des Moines are excited to announce the inaugural Racoon River Rally presented by Google Fiber scheduled for October 2, 2021. This is a FREE family friendly, rain or shine event and everyone is invited! Raccoon River Rally is the first fall festival of its kind at Raccoon River Park celebrating WDM?s community and waters. Attractions for the event include a morning bike ride, live music, cardboard boat races, a vendor fair with fun activities for kids, beer tent featuring craft beer from Kinship Brewing Co. and food trucks. A portion of sponsorship proceeds will benefit the Great Outdoors Foundation, a regional conservation leader and catalyst for high impact environmental projects. Great Outdoor Foundation is currently raising funds for the Central Iowa Water Trails. Raccoon River Rally will be held on Saturday, October 2 from 12 p.m. ? 6:00 p.m. The bike ride, route below, will kick off the day at 11 a.m. and cardboard boat races will begin at 2 p.m. Come join us at this fall festival and enjoy all the best the west has to offer! The Best of the West Awards are a West Des Moines focused, community voted contest featuring 50 categories. Voting is open ended, allowing for anyone, not just WDM Chamber members, to win. Our vision is to make West Des Moines the best suburban city in America to live, work, and play and now is the time to show pride in our vibrant community. From recognizing your favorite restaurant, retail store, or favorite company to work for, the Best of the West Awards gives area businesses a chance to take a bow and be recognized. AWARD RULES: Fifty business categories are highlighted and the community is encouraged to vote on your favorite. You don?t have to live in WDM to vote and you can vote every day. To win and be recognized, you need to have a WDM address or be a WDM Chamber member. Winners receive a wall plaque to showcase proudly and a special logo to showcase on your website.
