Ballet Des Moines announces The GRAVITY GALA: a fundraiser shining a spotlight on the creative community in Des Moines

A four-course dinner, full cocktail bar, live music and a sneak peek at the upcoming world premiere ballet Of Gravity and Light

Des Moines, Iowa (February 21, 2022) - Ballet Des Moines will host the GRAVITY Gala on Friday, March 4, at the Des Moines Heritage Center. This mesmerizing and immersive evening will include the dancers of Ballet Des Moines showcasing an excerpt of the upcoming world premiere of composer Beau Kenyon’s Of Gravity and Light, a one night only production April 22 at the Des Moines Civic Center.

Tickets for the evening include a four course meal from Chef Aaron Holt, the 2018 Iowa Restaurant Association Chef of the Year, a hosted bar including space-themed cocktails, live music and dancing, and a silent auction.

“All proceeds from the event are designated to continue the mission of the Ballet,” said Tom Mattingly, Ballet Des Moines Artistic Director.” Not only do we intend to bring the highest quality performances to the stage, but to ensure that every person in Iowa has the opportunity, and is encouraged, to participate in the arts through movement and music. This evening will be a celebration of both the work we’ve accomplished and the work we intend to create.”

In addition to an already extraordinary evening, VIP ticket holders will receive access to an exclusive portraiture studio set-up at the gala from Iowa-based photographer Joe Crimmings. See images from the company shoot here.

“We’ve planned an evening that we hope will energize not only our longtime supporters and patrons, but excite and inspire those from our community previously unaware of all that Ballet Des Moines has to offer,” said Blaire Massa, Ballet Des Moines CEO. “Each year we’re pushing the boundaries of being just a ballet company and instead, an immersive experience of arts and culture you don’t want to miss.”
