WEST DES MONES, IA (NOVEMBER 30, 2021) – Bank of America has signed on as the exclusive, three-year sponsor of the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce’s (WDM Chamber) annual Black & Brown Business Summit (BBBS) pitch competition.

In its first year, BBBS amassed over 400 attendees from a hybrid audience. In total, the event donated $15,000 back to the community, $10,000 of which came from the pitch competition.

“The pitch competition is a great opportunity for minority small businesses to learn from top experts in our region about how they can succeed,” said Katherine Harrington, WDM Chamber president and CEO. “Pitch competition participants then get the chance to actually pitch their business to those experts and receive incredibly valuable feedback. This opportunity would not be possible without Bank of America’s sponsorship.”

The 2021 pitch competition saw 22 small minority businesses participate, with seven of them winning cash prizes. Winners included VYBBES Luxury Beats & Instrumentals,  Zamorins Solutions, Inc., Mathai Tax Services, Speak Up Stories, Styled To Perfection, Infinite Resources, and ShinDigg
“In support of Black and Brown businesses across the state, we are honored to partner with the West Des Moines Chamber for this annual competition,” said Annie Brandt, senior vice president, market executive, Bank of America Iowa. “We are committed to the success of local entrepreneurs and look forward to seeing how this event will open doors for the talented participants.”
BBBS 2022 is scheduled for April 21 and 22 to be held at Athene. If you’re interested in participating in the pitch competition, look for information to soon be announced at
