DEI Workplace Excellence Awards’ Calls for Nonprofit Applicants
WEST DES MONES, IA (MONDAY, APRIL 4, 2022) – The West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce (WDM Chamber) is now accepting nonprofit applications to be the recipient of 10% of sponsorship funds raised from the second annual Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Workplace Excellence Awards (DEI Awards). To be considered, applicants must be an Iowa based 501©3 tax exempt nonprofit organizations that supports social justice.
The purpose of the DEI Awards is to learn from and to also elevate those who have created inclusive work environments through their workforce, supplier diversity programs, employee development initiatives, and more. This annual event not only celebrates businesses who champion DEI, but it also inspires others to expand their own initiatives. Learn more about the 2022 DEI Awards here.
“One way we furthered the impact of these awards in 2021 was in the form of a local donation,” said Kara Matheson, senior director of workforce development for the WDM Chamber. “A portion of the sponsorship proceeds were donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa to support their mission of creating one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.”
Applications can be submitted between Friday, April 1 and Sunday, May 1. The WDM Chamber’s DEI committee will review all submissions and select an organization that best supports and promotes social justice, impacts the community, and aligns with the purpose of the DEI Awards. Applicants do not need to be members of the WDM Chamber or be located in West Des Moines.
