Greater Iowa offers Project Classroom, a grant program for local K-8 teachers
Greater Iowa Credit Union understands classroom funding has historically been very tight for our community’s teachers, even more so with budget cuts and new types of learning environments occurring within the past year. Because of the evergreen need for funding, GICU developed a special grant program back in 2013 to give local educators the opportunity to apply for a grant to purchase items they may not otherwise be able to afford.
Greater Iowa offers Project Classroom, a grant program for local K-8 teachers that encourages innovation within their individual classroom. Each year, eight grants of $1,000 each, four in the spring and four in the fall, are awarded to teachers of registered Iowa Department of Education schools within GICU’s 33 county membership area.
Greater Iowa is elated to continue the Project Classroom program this year and bring much needed funds to a variety of school systems and help provide teachers tools to enhance their students level of learning for years to come.
In addition to the grant funds, the selected grant winners will have the opportunity to take advantage of a once in a lifetime classroom visit experience from GICU’s President/CEO, Scott Zahnle, as well as the most famous red bird in the state, Cy, ISU’s mascot!
Online applications are currently being accepted until Sunday, March 7th. To learn more about this program, please visit: www.gicu.org/project-classroom.
We encourage everyone to share this with their local educators to help spread the word!
