WEST DES MONES, IA (September 1, 2020) –

Wednesday, September 9 the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce is bringing Jason Redman, a Retired Navy SEAL, to those that attend their second annual First Responder’s Appreciation Breakfast, this year from the comforts of their own homes. Not only is the event being held to honor West Des Moines first responders, but healthcare workers as well.

Honoring our healthcare workers was an important inclusion to Redman, who spent 21 years as a Navy SEAL before being severely wounded during a combat operation in Iraq in 2007.
“Back in April, when the pandemic had really just started, we knew how important this event would be in spotlighting the important work of our first responders,” said Katherine Harrington, President and CEO of the WDM Chamber, “We also knew that we had to include our healthcare workers in the mix, who have been working tirelessly for months. While the rest of us sat inside and stayed away, they’ve been on the frontlines of fighting COVID-19.”

In addition to Redman as the keynote, WDM leaders and first responders will also be addressing the crowd. This list includes WDM Mayor Steve Gaer, WDM Fire Chief Craig Leu, WDM Police Chief Chris Scott, President and CEO of UnityPoint Health David Stark and COO of The Iowa Clinic Brandy Waters.
This event is free to attend with the option of donating to the newly formed West Des Moines Safety Cadets. Matthew Granzow, a WDM police office and mentor to the program, will also be speaking at the event.

You can learn more and register for this event, happening on Wednesday, September 9 from 7:30 a.m. – 9 a.m., on the WDM Chamber’s website.
