WDM Chamber to host luncheon featuring Division I Athletics Leaders from Drake, Iowa, Iowa State, and Northern Iowa

WEST DES MONES, IA (TUESDAY, AUGUST 23, 2022) – The West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce (WDM Chamber) will host a luncheon featuring athletics leaders from each of the state’s four Division I institutions on Thursday, September 8. Participating in the panel discussion are Brian Hardin, Director of Athletics at Drake University, Matt Henderson, Deputy Director of Athletics at the University of Iowa, Jamie Pollard, Director of Athletics at Iowa State University, and David Harris, Director of Athletics at the University of Northern Iowa. The event, sponsored by Bank Iowa and hosted at Des Moines Golf & Country Club, will begin with networking at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch and the panel, moderated by Jon Schaeffer, Director of Content at Bing Bang.

“We look forward to welcoming Brian, Matt, Jamie, and David to West Des Moines for this fan-friendly luncheon,” said Katherine Harrington, President and CEO of the WDM Chamber. “The opportunities connecting college athletics and the business community are now more available than ever, so we look forward to these leaders sharing their perspectives with everyone in attendance.”      

The panel discussion will encompass topics including conference realignment, name, image, and likeness (NIL), facility improvements, fan experience enhancements, and a look ahead to the 2022-23 athletics seasons. Interested attendees can also submit questions in advance when registering for the event.

“The state of Iowa is incredibly in-tune with the college athletics landscape and this luncheon will provide a platform for a well-informed discussion”, said Tom Florian, Senior Director of Membership and Strategic Marketing of the WDM Chamber. “This luncheon will be much more than a ‘meet and greet’ and instead an active discussion surrounding the business of sports.”
