WEST DES MONES, IA (TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2022) – Athene and Wells Fargo have subsequently come on as the naming rights and presenting sponsors of the second-annual Black & Brown Business Summit (the Summit).

“The inaugural Black & Brown Business Summit was an incredibly successful event, and we are proud to continue our sponsorship this year,” said Grant Kvalheim, CEO and president of Athene USA. “As a company, it is imperative that we use our voice and leadership position to advance economic opportunity for minority business owners.”

The Black & Brown Business Summit was created by national stakeholders to elevate ethnic minorities and bring BIPOC businesses together to assist with connection building, programming, promotion, training, and to provide resources to help businesses grow and prosper.

“The Black & Brown Business Summit is an important program with the goal of helping those who have not historically received necessary assistance in our communities,” said Micah Kiel, Wells Fargo’s Iowa vice president of Social Impact and Sustainability. “Wells Fargo is committed to advancing racial equity throughout our company and the communities we serve.  We could not be more proud to support this special event.”

The 2021 Summit had a combined 455 hybrid attendees, over 2,100 telecast views of the livestream, and gave $15,000 back to the community. The 2022 Summit will bring everyone from entrepreneurs to seasoned companies together in a hybrid setting and includes a pitch competition, breakout sessions led by top experts, Mel Essex Award, inspirational keynote speakers and more. The goal of the Summit is to help advance the minority business community across the country and position Iowa as the best place in the nation to start and lead a minority business.

BBBS 2022 is scheduled for April 21 and 22 to be held at Athene. If you’re interested in attending, look for information to soon be announced at
