Kellie Markey was shocked over the abuse of girls which ultimately led her to a new life mission: the start-up of Dorothy’s House. Dorothy’s House is a safe house providing 24/7 support for the healing of young female survivors of sex trafficking located in Des Moines, Iowa.

Sex trafficking is the fastest growing criminal industry in the United States right now. In Iowa, we are among one of the top 5 worst states in the nation for this crime. The average age of a girl taken for sex trafficking is between 10-12 years old.

On September 7^th Kellie Markey will share why she left a great position at eBay, a Fortune 500 company, to launch Dorothy’s House.

From never volunteering a day in her life, to becoming a foster parent, to incubating a start-up, Kellie’s life flipped and she seems to have found her true calling.

During an interview with the Business Record, Kellie stated “Only in a town like Des Moines can a random individual with no experience or skill in this background pull something like this off.”
