JOB SUMMARY
As a key member of the Marketing and Communication team, the Marketing Communications Consultant supports the team’s passion to create a strong brand presence while helping our internal and external customers. This position is responsible for creating and executing marketing strategies and communication plans designed to attract, engage, and retain customers and distribution partners. The Marketing Communications Consultant is a driving force when it comes to promoting our products and services, especially during product launches. The ability to help distill complex concepts into concise, easy-to-understand, and compelling content to support our value proposition and goals is critical to this role’s success. This experienced professional plans strategically, fulfills tactically, and builds strong relationships with a diverse, cross-functional set of stakeholders, including sales, product, legal/compliance, and other subject matter experts.

  • Advance the organization’s strategic direction through development and implementation of effective marketing initiatives and communication plans to drive growth.
  • Provide marketing and communication consultation on cross-functional teams in an agile environment to gain a thorough understanding of business needs and translate those needs into actionable plans that align with the organization’s objectives.
  • Partner with the product and sales teams and Customer Experience Manager to identify competitive position, value proposition, and market approach to promote the company’s mix of products and services.
  • Develop clear, concise, and engaging content for multiple target audiences through a variety of mediums, including training materials, sales literature, presentations, digital marketing, video, and thought-leadership articles.
  • Manage projects end to end while collaborating with team members, legal/compliance, and other subject matter experts to ensure deliverables meet brand guidelines, editorial standards, and compliance regulations.
  • Monitor and measure effectiveness of marketing and communication strategies to determine return on investment (ROI) and make necessary adjustments to improve results.
  • Facilitate meetings using influence to gain consensus on communications, plans, and deliverables while demonstrating diplomacy skills, confidence, and tact.
  • Develop schedules and maintain deadlines via project management system to help provide visibility into the team's key initiatives and priorities.
Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

  • Experience and advanced knowledge of the principles, processes, and practices related to building and executing marketing strategies and communication plans across multiple channels to attract, engage, and retain customers.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a passion for helping internal and external customers.
  • Meticulous and organized with exceptional project management skills to help develop and provide clear direction, prioritize, plan, and pivot as needed on simultaneous projects.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, be engaged daily, keep stakeholders informed at the right level, drive work forward with a sense of urgency, and act with accountability for work.
  • Positive and engaged team player who is motivated by being part of and succeeding as a team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs and familiarity with Associated Press (AP) style.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising, journalism, or related field.
  • Combination of education and/or relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
Experience
  • 5+ years of related work experience.
  • Insurance industry experience a plus but not required.
  • Applicants must provide three relevant writing samples.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
