9/11 Day Packaging Event

On September 11, our community will come together at Meals from the Heartland to remember, reflect, and serve. Individuals, families, businesses, churches, schools, community groups, and first responders are invited to take part in a community-wide Hunger Fight by packaging nutritious meals for neighbors facing hunger. Whether you have volunteered with us before or this is your first time, we would be honored to serve alongside you. Event Schedule: 9:30-11:30 a.m. Meal Packaging Shift 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Community Remembrance Event 1:00-3:00 p.m. Meal Packaging Shift Event Details Date: Friday, September 11, 2026 Location: Patty Cownie Packaging Center 357 Lincoln Street West Des Moines, IA 50265 No meal packaging experience is needed. Our team will provide all instructions at the beginning of each shift. Volunteer for a packaging shift, attend the Community Remembrance Event, or take part in both as we honor the courage and spirit of service that continue to bring people together.
