Battle of the 'Burbs 10K, 5K & Kids Fun Run

The rematch is on … for this year's Summer Breeze—Battle of the ‘Burbs! The City of West Des Moines won in 2018, but the mayors of Clive, Waukee and West Des Moines will be duking it out again to win the WWF-style award belt on behalf of their city in 2019.

We need you, West Des Moines residents, to register for a run. The city with the most race participants will be crowned the winner!

When you sign up, you’ll have the option to designate West Des Moines as the city you are running for. But you don’t have to live in West Des Moines to race or watch the competition unfold! The winning city will be announced before the race.

Although the city with the most participants will be the winner, everybody wins because 100% of the registration fees designated from West Des Moines runners will benefit the West Des Moines Community Foundation.

This day of rivalry and fun is quickly becoming a favorite of runners with views of Clive Lake and the Country Club community. And a Kids Fun Run ensures a family-friendly event.

Age Groups (split by men and women for both the 5K and 10K)

• 19 and under
• 20-39
• 40-59
• 60+

2. Show camaraderie with your city by wearing the appropriate color:

• Clive—Green
• Waukee—Blue
• West Des Moines—Orange

3. Enjoy an exciting day of competition and fun!

• Face painting
• Balloon Twister
• Food truck
• Beer truck
• And more!

4. Stick around after the race ends for 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place prizes in each age group, for men and women, for the 5K and 10K. Cash prizes will be given as well.

The winning city will be announced on the day of the race.

This event is presented by NCMIC and Professional Solutions. Proceeds from WDM runners will go to the WDM Community Foundation.
