Day of Kindness - Sock Drive
Created by the West Des Moines Leadership Academy 3 years ago, Day of Kindness is dedicated to encouraging businesses, leaders, students, and community members to find a way to spread a little kindness. What started in West Des Moines, has now inspired a Day of Kindness across the state of Iowa.
We kicked off last year's Day of Kindness with our first community-wide sock drive, hoping to collect 100 socks. We were blown away after receiving 865 pairs of new socks! Let's see if we can beat this record in 2024--we've got some big socks to fill! We're once again encouraging your businesses, friends, and family to bring new socks to the WDM Chamber office on February 23rd. All socks will be donated to West Des Moines Human Services through “Socks of Love”, a nonprofit founded by WDMLA alum, Mick Grossman.
To thank you for your donation and show a little kindness in return, we'll be offering complimentary Hurts Donuts to all who participate. No need to RSVP - just swing by with your donation, enjoy a donut (and some conversation if you’ve got the time!), and start your Day of Kindness off right.
*Can't make it on February 23 but want to donate? Check out THIS to order a pair online to be delivered instead!
