Des Moines Latino Film Festival
The festival brings award-winning films from Latin America and the U.S.! This year includes American Pachuco: The Legend of Luis Valdez, a Sundance Festival Favorite starring Edward James Olmos, about the playwright and director behind Zoot Suit and La Bamba. And A Poet, a Cannes Jury Prize winner from Colombia, about a broken writer in Medellín who finds unexpected redemption through mentorship, and many more! Beyond the films, there's a larger story here: what it means for a Latino family in Des Moines to sit in a theater and watch a film that reflects their world. The films vary in length, themes, and genres. Some are for all ages, some are better suited for mature audiences. The festival is made possible by sponsors. There are coupons available on the website to make it affordable and accessible to all.
