Purpose:

The Corporate Accountant position provides support for the organization’s accounting functions chiefly financial transactions related to bank activity. Focus on preforming routine to moderate accounting tasks including reconciliations, journal entries, fixed asset reporting, data analysis and preparing and filing of premium tax returns. The Corporate Accountant role is responsible for adhering to SOX accounting controls and established accounting procedures.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Primary responsibility will be the management and analysis of the financial accounts. Conducts daily review of Treasury activity including bank, suspense, and accrual accounts. Identifies discrepancies with detailed research and takes steps to resolve in a timely manner
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly reconciliations as well as researching and resolving variances with other business units
  • Prepares daily and monthly financial activity journal entries
  • Acts as support and backup for other Cash Receipt functions as needed
  • Prepares annual and prepayment premium tax filings and journal entries, responds to state requests, and submits e-filings on state websites for assigned states
  • Assists with maintaining fixed asset accounting and reporting
  • Serves as a technical resource within Corporate Accounting team and communicates key business understanding across other business units and offices
  • Provides data analysis and reports, and assists with projects as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

 


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Two year degree in accounting, finance or an equivalent combination of education and applicable experience required
  • 2+ years of related professional work experience preferred
  • Two year degree in accounting, finance or an equivalent combination of education and applicable experience required
  • Strong attention to detail and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to influence others and communicate internally and externally across all levels and areas of the organization
  • Prior experience using Oracle, Essbase, and Blackline or other T&E applications
  • Ability to make decisions, use independent judgment, establish priorities, and work effectively on multiple initiatives concurrently both individually and as part of a team
  • Adhere to federal accounting standards including SOX, FASB, and GAAP and established accounting controls, procedures, and industry best practices
