LARGE LOSS SPECIALIST

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Provide customer service to insureds, investigate claims, take recorded statements, determine liability, set reserves and make claim payments
Responsibilities also include the handling losses under all coverages of personal and commercial lines policies. Includes the ability to scope, estimate, and settle losses in excess of $750,000
Interpret and determine policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles, and contract coverages and applies to all parties for assigned losses
Conduct on-site inspections, evaluates damages, and handle claim negotiations with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters
Capable of interpreting complex expert reports and communicating that information to all interested parties.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
May direct the work of others
Works under minimal supervision to perform the functions of the job
Must be willing to travel for Catastrophe duty if necessary
Must be located in IMT writing territory or willing to relocate to be considered. Ideal candidate will have working knowledge of state specific laws and regulations within IMT writing territory
Ability to communicate and work with municipalities in review and consideration of policy coverages
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

10+ years of insurance and 5+ years of large loss property claim experience
A college degree or equivalent
Construction background preferred but not required
Ability to read, problem solve and pay close attention to details. This includes but is not limited to complex reporting and maintaining detailed file activity documentation
Ability to listen and communicate to the customer, both verbally and in writing in a professional manner
Ability to operate standard office computer system
Has the ability to inspect, scope and write all aspects of building estimates for personal and commercial lines policies using Xactimate. The ideal candidate will have been through Xactimate
Ability to climb a ladder and execute other physical requirements to properly ascertain claim damages
Maintain technical expertise and knowledge of current trends and techniques in the market
Must maintain valid driver's license due to required fieldwork
Must develop and maintain strong negotiation skills
Must be a self-starter with the ability to organize and complete essential job functions daily
Substantial travel with extended driving. Overnight stays are to be expected

The salary range for this position is $85,000.00 - $112,000.00

Starting salary and level of position will depend on level of experience
