President's Club and Impact Council Reception
According to a survey by the Brookings Institute, scholars predict that by
the end of THIS year the United States will be short three million
college graduates.
Here in Iowa, we still need to add more than 120,000 workers with post-
secondary degrees or credentials by 2025, according to a study Iowa
commissioned from Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce.
Add those statistics to our low unemployment rate and it’s no
wonder employers just like you are wringing their hands over talent
acquisition and retention challenges.
This is why businesses must reach out to high school students – even junior high
students - to begin the discussion of future career development.
- What would you say to a high school junior about a career in your industry? At your workplace?
- What would you tell teachers about what needs to be taught in the classroom to prepare
students for the future workforce?
Now you’ve got a chance to do both. Come to a reception on June 21st when you will meet
students you’ll never forget. You may even want to hire them now! You will connect with those
who drive curriculum decisions and influence outcomes for your future hires.
Learn how you can tap into the amazing minds and talent of Valley High School students
