WEST DES MOINES, IA (JANUARY 31) – The West Des Moines Leadership Academy (WDMLA), a program of the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, is proud to announce the opening of applications for the 2024-25 program. The West Des Moines Leadership program is designed to help aspiring leaders develop their leadership skills and capabilities to make a positive impact on the community.

The Leadership Academy is an intensive nine-month program that provides participants with practical training, hands-on experience, and access to industry experts. The program includes modules on leadership styles, team building, communication, decision-making, and more. Participants will also influence the future of West Des Moines through strategic leadership development and workforce retention.

“This program has a proven history of changing the trajectory of leaders’ careers and lives as a whole,” said Kara Matheson, VP of Workforce Development and Culture. “We’re always evolving our training based on the ever-changing demands of being a leader. The evident growth in individuals paired with the bonds of classmates through the community-impact project are two of my favorite pieces of this experience. We can’t wait to welcome a new class this fall!”

The deadline to submit applications is Friday, May 31–learn more on the Chamber’s website. Hear from alumni and current class members at an upcoming informational session on Wednesday, April 3 from 4:00 – 5:00 PM.
