Community Invited to “Can Play Fore All presented by NCMIC” Mini Golf Event Supporting Inclusive Recreation

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — April 7, 2026 — The West Des Moines Leadership Academy is bringing the community together for a one-of-a-kind event, Can Play Fore All presented by NCMIC on Friday, April 24 from 3-6 p.m. This interactive mini-golf experience will raise awareness of and support for Can Play, a local nonprofit dedicated to making sports and recreation accessible to individuals of all abilities.

Held at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex in West Des Moines, the event invites community members, families, and local businesses to participate in a creative and meaningful way by designing and sponsoring custom mini-golf holes.

Can Play serves thousands of individuals across the region by removing financial, physical, cognitive, and emotional barriers to participation in sports. Through its programs, participants gain confidence, build friendships, and experience a strong sense of belonging.

“Can Play Fore All is more than just a fun event; it’s a way to bring our community together around a powerful mission,” said Anna Heroux from the West Des Moines Leadership Academy. “Every hole, every participant, and every sponsor helps ensure that everyone has the opportunity to play.”

A limited number of hole sponsorships remain available. Sponsors are invited to design a themed mini-golf hole using donated snack items and simple materials, creating a fun and interactive experience for attendees while directly supporting the event’s impact.

Hole sponsorships ($1,000) include:

  • A fully customized mini-golf hole
  • Signage and recognition on event materials and social media
  • Optional on-site presence to engage with attendees

For individuals looking for a fun way to give back, there are foursome ($200) and individual ($60) golf tickets available. Foursomes will play a 14-hole course with 2 additional "adapted" holes included. Two tee time options (3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.) are available.

The event is open to the public and promises an afternoon of creativity, connection, and community impact.
