DMU Forms Partnership With Bryan College of Health Sciences

WEST DES MOINES, IA (01/06/2025) Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences and Bryan College of Health Sciences have formed a partnership to enhance access to medical education and foster greater opportunities for aspiring health care professionals. This alliance between Bryan Health, located in Lincoln, Nebraska, and DMU will provide greater opportunities for future health care providers in the Midwest.

This will provide a seamless transition for students and many opportunities for growth and advanced education," says Wallace Boeve, ED.D., PA-C, DFAAPA, DMU College of Health Sciences dean. "Together, we will prepare skilled, compassionate and competent health care professionals, ready to tackle the complexities of evolving changes in health care."

Bryan Health students can apply to a range of advanced degree programs, with guaranteed interviews for many DMU programs, as well as reserved seats in the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine and Doctor of Occupational Therapy programs.

"This partnership will provide students with a comprehensive pathway from Bryan College of Health Sciences to one of Des Moines University's advanced graduate pathways in health care," says Jason States, dean of health care studies at Bryan Health. "This will enable students to better understand health care systems, clinical practices and emerging health technologies, creating a pipeline of highly qualified individuals who will meet the diverse challenges of today's health care landscape."

The DMU and Bryan Health partnership agreement offers students the following benefits:

Reserved Seats

The partnership agreement reserves seats annually for the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine and the Doctor of Occupational Therapy programs. These seats are available to competitive Bryan Health students based on grade point average, demonstrated hours of relevant observational or work experience, a positive recommendation from Bryan Health faculty and other academic achievements.

Guaranteed Interviews

Bryan Health students who meet DMU's admission requirements are guaranteed interviews for consideration of admission to these DMU programs:

  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy

  • Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies

  • Master of Science in Anatomy

  • Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences

  • Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences

Depending on the student's career path, applications can be started as early as sophomore year. Students are encouraged to work with their advisors and academic program chairs for timely and strategic career planning.
