WayPoint Resources Launches April Fundraiser as Demand for Services Rises
WayPoint Resources will launch its annual April Online Fundraiser on Wednesday, April 1, with a goal of raising $150,000 to support services in the upcoming fiscal year. The fundraiser will conclude once the goal is reached, followed by a celebration on Tuesday, April 28, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at Country Lane Lodge in Adel, recognizing the community whose support sustains the organization’s work.
The fundraiser comes as WayPoint Resources reports a 17% increase in households using its services in 2025 compared to 2024, reflecting growing demand for food access, healthcare, and basic necessities across Dallas County.
Demand for services has increased significantly over the past two decades. WayPoint Resources reports growth from 92 household visits in 2005, the first year of operations, to 6,613 in 2025. In 2025 alone, the organization recorded more than 23,000 total individual visits.
“What we’re seeing isn’t just population growth,” said Melissa Stimple, Executive Director of WayPoint Resources. “It’s a growing number of families struggling to keep up. Rising costs and changing circumstances mean more people need a place to turn, many for the first time. And we know food insecurity rarely happens on its own. That’s why WayPoint brings food, healthcare, clothing, and individualized support together in one place to help families stabilize and rebuild.”
During the same 20-year period, Dallas County’s population more than doubled, growing from approximately 51,000 residents in 2005 to an estimated 115,000 in 2025. Service demand at WayPoint has increased at a faster pace than population growth.
The organization’s work is supported by more than 550 volunteers who contributed over 21,700 hours of service last year, helping operate programs that address immediate needs for families across the county.
Community members can support the April fundraiser by donating online at waypoint.care and by attending the April 28 celebration event in Adel.
