WDM Leadership Academy Hosts First Alumni Professional Development Event: ''Wired for Wellbeing''

WEST DES MOINES, IA (SEPTEMBER 24, 2024) – The West Des Moines Leadership Academy (WDMLA) is excited to announce the launch of its first professional development event for alumni, Wired for Wellbeing, presented by RDG Planning & Design. The West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce recently surveyed employers across Central Iowa, and “burnout” was noted as one of the top issues leaders are facing with their employees and themselves. This event aims to provide tools to WDMLA Alumni and supports the program’s pillars of continually learning how to better lead yourself, others, and the community.
 
This in-person event will be held on October 29 from 3 – 5 PM at West48. It is designed for WDMLA graduates, offering a unique opportunity to continue personal and professional growth while expanding networks within the WDM Leadership Academy community.
 
The Wired for Wellbeing workshop is a transformative experience that addresses the real-world stress that leaders face today. With increased demands on time and energy, many leaders are struggling with lower work-life balance and feelings of being overwhelmed. This experiential session, led by accomplished speaker, success coach, and entrepreneur Vanessa McNeal, will provide attendees with actionable strategies to reduce stress and cultivate inner peace.
 
“As an Alum from the very first graduating class, I’m thrilled we’re offering our alumni this opportunity,” said Mike Schneider, one of the event’s Committee Leaders. “This is not only about learning practical tools to navigate stress but also about reconnecting with fellow alumni and expanding professional circles amidst all 17 years of graduates.”
 
Alumni will leave this workshop with greater clarity, resilience, and confidence—equipped to lead with a renewed sense of purpose and balance. With only a limited number of seats available, tickets are priced at $24. Early registration is encouraged to ensure a spot at this inaugural event.
