WEST DES MOINES CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PROMOTES TOM FLORIAN TO VICE PRESIDENT OF MEMBERSHIP AND STRATEG

WEST DES MONES, IA (February 7, 2024) – The West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce (WDM Chamber) has announced the promotion of Tom Florian, MBA to Vice President of Membership and Strategic Marketing. Florian will expand his responsibilities in member acquisition and retention, developing sales strategies for the organization, and directing the WDM Chamber’s strategic marketing initiatives.

"Tom has been an exceptional leader at the West Des Moines Chamber since day one. In his nearly three-year tenure, he's significantly contributed to our success by attracting numerous new members and investors, and spearheading initiatives such as the West Des Moines Leads program, Latino Trade Network, Raccoon River Rally festival, and the establishment of the West Des Moines Chamber Foundation, and instrumental in the development of the Athene Black and Brown Business Summit among many others," said Katherine Harrington, President and CEO of the WDM Chamber. "He continuously introduces fresh ideas like the 'Candy Cane Trail' and 'Visit 100 Places to Celebrate the Chamber’s 100-Year Anniversary' to foster member growth. Recognized as an ACCE 40 Under 40 honoree in 2022, Tom played a key role in our nomination for Chamber of The Year USA. Leading our marketing efforts, he brings innovative strategies that elevate our brand to new heights."

Florian joined the WDM Chamber in 2021 as Director of Membership and Growth and rose to Senior Director of Membership and Strategic Marketing in 2022. Since his time, Florian has brought over 270 members to the WDM Chamber.

Florian is actively engaged in various community boards and initiatives. He serves on the Historic Valley Junction Foundation Board of Directors and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Greater Iowa Board of Directors, holds the position of Central Iowa Regional Alumni Board Chair at Drake University, acts as an ex-officio member of the Drake University National Alumni Board of Directors, participates in the Des Moines Choral Society and Umeri Drake University Alumni Choir, and teaches as an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at Drake University. He is a 2023 graduate of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute and was recognized as the 2023 Drake University Young Alumni Loyalty Award recipient. In addition to his ongoing commitments, Florian is committed to fostering the growth and enhancing the visibility of the WDM Chamber as they commemorate their 100-Year Anniversary in 2024.
