Jethro’s BBQ Announces $25,000 Food Eating Competition in Celebration of “March Madness”

Des Moines, IA – Jethro’s BBQ restaurants have raised the reward to $25,000 for anyone who can consume the Adam Emmenecker Sandwich and break the current world record of 3 minutes and 1 second. The contest will run throughout the month of March in celebration of March Madness. The current reward stands at $10,000, but this special event doubles the prize for a record-breaking attempt.

The Emmenecker Challenge gained national fame when Travel Channel’s Man vs. Food star Adam Richman attempted the challenge and failed on national television. The sandwich is named after Adam Emmenecker, the Drake University basketball player who was the 2008 Missouri Valley Conference Larry Bird Player of the Year.

The challenge consists of a massive 4-pound sandwich featuring all of Emmenecker’s favorite foods, along with one pound of waffle fries. Participants must consume the entire portion within 15 minutes or less. Those who successfully complete the challenge earn the sandwich for free and receive a coveted spot on the Wall of Fame. During March, anyone who breaks the world record will win $25,000.

The current world record holder is Molly Schuyler, a 125-pound mother of four, who has successfully conquered the challenge and holds the record at six of Jethro’s restaurants across the state.
