Safety & Security Specialist

What You'll Do
As a Safety & Security Specialist you'll provide day-to-day security for our Home Office employees. 

 

Here are few examples of the kinds of things you’ll do:

 

 

Responsible for detailed patrol of the corporate complex to ensure a safe and secure operating environment. This includes regular inspections and verification of functionality of alarms, security doors, elevator phones, CCTVs, etc. Report and assist in the resolution of hazardous or safety related problems.
Provide a high level of customer service assistance to visitors entering campus and ensure proper access is followed. Knowledge and ability to staff all security posts while monitoring entrances to building, alarm responses and reception duties.
Responds to and conducts interviews to obtain complete and accurate information regarding incidents occurring involving employees and/or property to include but not limited to criminal actions, vehicle and pedestrian accidents, slip/falls, damaged property, etc. Act as liaison with police and fire officials as needed.
Maintains appropriate security/safety records and prepares reports as required through the on-line incident reporting form.
Respond to all requests for assistance. Provide escort service as needed to parking garages and/or flat lots. Assess emergency situations, resolve, or assist in the resolution of conflict in a prompt and efficient manner. Use conflict intervention when needed to prevent situations from escalating.
Serve as an emergency response team member responding to emergency situations in the corporate complex as needed. Provide first aid, CPR and AED as needed.
Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
Who You Are
2+ years of security or customer-related experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
Good customer service and oral and written communication skills required.
Must have good planning/organizational and time management skills.
Knowledge of or ability to attain knowledge of various emergency and security related equipment/systems required.
Must have the ability to prioritize efficiently with little supervision, think and act quickly and calmly in emergency situations and exercise good judgment.
Must be able to be certified in CPR, AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) and basic first aid.
Must be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy while being detail oriented.
Must be able to rotate between walking, standing, and sitting for 8-10 hours per shift.
Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$18.73 - $21.92 / hour
Time Off Program
Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness.

Hours/Location

This is a fully onsite position, reporting to the corporate offices in downtown Des Moines, IA.   The shifts are rotational, working patrol one week Monday - Friday 6:15am-3pm CST and working the desk location(s) the next week Monday - Thursday 6:15am-5pm CST.
